Mr. Burgos began having behavioral health issues as a young boy, which worsened after traumatic experiences in Military School. He then dropped out of high school at the age of sixteen and at seventeen obtained his GED. He worked various jobs and excelled in CAD (Computer-aided Design) and early computer programming. He received awards from Drexel and LaSalle Universities.
He accepted Islam, and on September 25, 1970 he married Jamilah (Monica) Beckton, in Philadelphia, PA. Their only daughter was born to this union, Laila Burgos.
As his behavioral health went untreated, he committed acts which led to his incarceration for ten years. During that time, he began treatment for his behavioral health and journeyed on a path of redemption and emotional stability. Despite his wife's passing in 2012 and stroke in 2018, he was always ready to pray on the 5:00AM prayer line, which his daughter participates in every morning.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jamilah (Monica) Beckton Burgos.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his lovely daughter, Laila Burgos and a host of other relatives and friends.
