Ruthie Mae Simmons

Mrs. Ruthie Mae Young Simmons was born on January 31, 1951 in Adel, Georgia to the late Ella Young and Tommy Young. On January 11, 2023, she answered the heavenly call at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina and moved on peacefully to be with the Lord.

She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joseph Simmons of Green Pond, South Carolina. They were married for thirty-six wonderful years.

Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, Ella and Tommy Young.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her four children, Barbara White of Columbia, South Carolina, Donald Franklin (Israel) of Columbia, South Carolina, Tricia Whitlock (Emmanuel) of Columbia, South Carolina, and Ricky Young (Sharon) of Summerville, South Carolina; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren;  one sister, Jeannette Williams of Hahira, Georgia; two step-daughters, Michelle Simmons of Valdosta, Georgia and Valarie Newsome (Curtis) of Hahira, Georgia; one step-son, Archie "Pete" Simmons of Ridgeland, South Carolina; one sister-in-law, Sarah Sanders of Savannah, Georgia; a host of nieces including Janice Sermons and a special niece, Mae Sanders; several nephews, and cousins; her very special and long time friends, Rosa Mae Mikel, Susie Norris, Diane Singleton, Estelle Stewart and a host of other relatives and friends.
