Sonny Council, the son of the late Marion and Carrie Council, was born on July 18, 1935. On Thursday, September 9, 2021, Sonny received a call from God, to come home and take his rest, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
He was educated in the Dorchester County Public School System.
Sonny was raised up in St. John Baptist Church, where his family attended, and his father was Chairman of the Board. He fellowshipped with various churches and recently rejoined St. John Baptist Church. He will remembered by his family as a singer with several gospel groups. He was known by many, to be a loving and caring person and always willing to help people when he could.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Annie Hampleton Council Miller. Within this union, seven children were born. Sonny later remarried to the late Mrs. Sylvia Brooks Council.
Sonny was preceded in death by both wives, Annie and Sylvia; six brothers; four sisters; two daughters, and one son.
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, three daughters, Ruthie Williams (Kenneth), Lula Green (James), and Christie Vickers (John) all of Orangeburg, South Carolina; one son, Louie Council of Cottageville, South Carolina; grandchildren; great grandchildren; one brother, Hezekiah Council of Ridgeville, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
