At an early age, Stanley joined the Springtown United Methodist Church and accepted God as his personal savior. He attended school in South Carolina. Shortly after, he moved to Washington DC and later New York. While in New York, Stanley met Ruby Perry. They were married on May 8, 1965, and were blessed with three children, Vielessia “Lisa” of Bronx, New York, Lashaen of Harlem, New York, and Stanley, Jr. (Tina) of Harlem, New York.
Stanley joined the Mass Transit Authority in NYC, where he worked for many years and had a good career until his retirement, on July 4, 1998. While in New York, he and his family became members of the Manhattan Baptist Church. Stanley was a devoted son, brother, uncle, and cousin. Stanley returned to Springtown and the family home in 2015. He loved playing poker, telling stories, and working in his garden. Stanley was a generous man, who welcomed all into his life. Every Sunday, he could be found well-dressed in a good suit and riding in his electric wheelchair across the street to attend church services at Springtown United Methodist Church.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Stanley, Jr., one brother, Clyde “Bo” Salley, and one sister, Arlene Salley.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Ruby, daughters Lisa and Lashaen; six grandchildren, Stanley III, Nikkilette, Natalie, Avery, Kaisaan, and Nvaeh; three great grandchildren; and numerous close cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
