Terry Risher Obituary

Evangelist Terry Denise Risher, affectionately known to many as "Nicey" was born on born on May 26, 1965 in Colleton County to the late Mr. Herbert Risher, Jr. and the late Mrs. Florence Myrtle Lawton Risher. After the passing of her parents she was blessed to have her sister Apostle Clemustine Linder step in as a second mother. On Saturday, July 4, 2020, God transitioned Terry from Earth to Glory at her home in Smoaks, South Carolina.

Home-Going Celebration will be held Friday, July 10, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Walterboro Christian Center, 320 Robertson Blvd., Walterboro, South Carolina.  Jadon Buckner, Host Pastor, Apostle Clemunstine Linder, Eulogist.  Interment, Lovely Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.  (IN ORDER TO GAIN ENTRY OF THE CHURCH YOU MUST HAVE ON A MASK AND THERE WILL BE SOCIAL DISTANCING WITH LIMITED SEATING IN SANCTUARY.)  A public viewing will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Stephens-Maree-Tracy Funeral Home Chapel of Serenity from 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. 

Terry was educated at the South Seventeenth Street School in Newark, New Jersey until she moved to South Carolina where she attended the public schools of Colleton County, graduating from Ruffin High School with the class of 1984. Serving as a Color Guard in school was something that she really enjoyed and looked forward to doing. She was the type of person that loved learning new crafts and different ways to express her creative personality. She also attended the Vocational Center in Walterboro, South Carolina where she learned and completed the brick masonry program. Years later, she was still determined to further her education as a grandmother and to set an example for her children by graduating in the year of 2016 with an online Associate Degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Terry was a very honest and hardworking woman that believed in taking care of her family. She was employed as a secretary at the Safe Haven Shelter in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was also employed as a Home Health Aide/Caregiver at Carrington's Care.

At an early age, she attended the White Rock Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey, until she moved back to South Carolina and became a member of the Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Smoaks, South Carolina. She later became a member of the Prayer Meeting House of Deliverance Center where she accepted the Lord as her personal savior. She was a very active member and she also accepted her call as an Evangelist. At Prayer Meeting House of Deliverance Center, she was a faithful member of the Salvations of Gospel Choir, Pastor Aid Committee, Church Event Committee, and  Finance Committee while serving in the vineyard as an Evangelist. She also served as the Church Secretary, Armor Bearer, Bible Study Teacher, Usher, Praise and Worship Leader, Exalter, and Nurse. She was a woman of faith that believed in miracles, signs and wonders and knew how important it was to stand on the word of God.

Terry was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved God with all of her heart. She was also a great cook and loved to make sure that everyone ate who visited her house. Terry was a very gifted Seamstress, Cosmetologist, Interior Decorator, and Singer. She loved to read the word of God and testify of the goodness of the Lord wherever she went. She loved to shop and was known to be a person that had great taste when it came to fashion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Risher, Jr. and Florence Myrtle Lawton Risher;  two sisters, Rochelle Risher and Lynn Brown; and one brother, Henry Lee Risher.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her five children, Prophetess Mekiella (Albert) Young of Summerville, South Carolina, Brittany (Elton) Brown of Raeford, North Carolina, Robert Linder of Smoaks, South Carolina, Angel Risher of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Iyhania Risher of Smoaks, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Jamari, Malaysis, Alquarius, Al'Zavias, Alvonte, Bella, and Bryson; six sisters, Geraldine Risher (Terry's adopted daughter) of Smoaks, South Carolina, Olivia Williams of Columbia, South Carolina, Annie (Lawrence) Ling of Smoaks, South Carolina, Apostle Clemustine (James) Linder of Smoaks, South Carolina, Doann Mosley of Smoaks, South Carolina, and  Pastor Ernell Frasier, of Ridgeland, South Carolina; two brothers, Roma Lee (Janna) Risher of Atlanta, Georgia and Antonio Risher of Atlanta, Georgia; one adopted sister, Susan Jenkins of Walterboro, South Carolina; nine aunts, Rosa Lawton of Walterboro, South Carolina, Pastor Helen Douglas of Islandton, South Carolina, Margie Lawton of Islandton, South Carolina, Helen Linder of Branchville, South Carolina, Mimmie Graham of Texas, Vymel Corbitt of Alabama, Virginia Risher of Atlanta, Georgia, Luella Brown of Ruffin, South Carolina, and Betsy Jenkins of Smoaks, South Carolina; three uncles, Cleroy Lawton of Islandton, South Carolina, Thomas Risher of Columbia, South Carolina and Charlie H. Risher of Patterson, New Jersey; a special friend, George Elmore; best friend, Debra Simmons Carrington; and a host of nieces, nephews, God children, cousins, other relatives and friends.
